Hungarian Presbyterian Church of Wharton, NJ

Proclaiming Jesus Christ For 104 Years

83 Robert Street Wharton, New Jersey 973-366-7706

WELCOME ! - ÁLDÁS BÉKESSÉG !

Proud of our Calvinist Heritage

Our Church is founded on the teachings of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as written in the Holy Bible, the only infallible rule of faith and life.

While many in our congregation are proud of their Hungarian heritage, many others are equally proud of other ancestries.

Our Church is firmly anchored in the Reformed (Református) faith.

We are a small, but active Church striving to live in brotherly love as Jesus Christ commanded. Our friendly congregation has been worshipping God for over 100 years.

Our Church is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) through membership in the Newton Presbytery and is committed to the Confessing Church Movement within the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Our worship include separate English and Hungarian language services, with occasional combined language services.

Our primary mission effort for the past several years has been as the major sponsor of the SonBeam Bible Camp in Kassa, Slovakia.

The largest minority group in Slovakia is people of Hungarian descent. Since Slovakia was ruled by the communists for almost 50 years, the Lord Jesus Christ was not openly proclaimed.

This evangelical camp has brought many young people to know the love of our Lord. About 500 young people between the ages of 6 to 14 attend this summer Bible Camp every year at no charge; all camp staff are volunteers including 22 teachers, 4 Pastors, and a full time doctor, only the food preparation staff is paid.

In addition to hearing about the grace of God, the campers are also taught religious music by professional musicians, leaving time still for play and creative activities such as ceramics, paper art, painting, and making corn husk dolls. For more information see their site at SonBeam Bible Camp, Slokavia but make sure to bring your Hungarian language dictionary!
