Proclaiming Jesus Christ For 104 Years

The Session of the Hungarian Presbyterian Church of Wharton, New Jersey
meeting this 27th day of January in the year of our Lord 2002 joins faithful believers throughout the Church in confessing:

WE BELIEVE AND AFFIRM one Sovereign and Holy God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who created, sustains, rules and redeems the world according to His perfect plan and will.

WE BELIEVE AND AFFIRM that God became flesh in Jesus Christ, who was fully human and fully God, as the Scriptures and the Confessions of the Church declare.

WE BELIEVE AND AFFIRM that Jesus Christ died on the cross for the sins of humankind, bearing in His body the sins of all those who trust in Him, and that there is salvation in no other.

WE BELIEVE AND AFFIRM that Jesus was bodily raised from the dead by the power of God, and that He ascended to heaven, where He reigns with the Father and the Spirit, one God.

WE BELIEVE AND AFFIRM that the Scriptures of the Old Testament and the New Testament are God's Word; the unique and authoritative witness to Jesus Christ and the Church's only infallible rule of faith and life.

WE BELIEVE AND AFFIRM that Christ's grace and participation in His Church are open to all and we invite all to hear and see that the Lord is good. We also affirm that Jesus, out of love for us and for our own good, calls us to holiness in all facets of life. This call is comprehensive in scope touching all aspects of the ways we love God, ourselves, and others. It also includes honoring the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman, the only relationship within which sexual activity is appropriate.

We therefore announce our commitment to the Confessing Church Movement and we implore all Presbyterians who share these historic Christian convictions to:

Renew their individual commitments to the above confessions.

Urge their session and presbytery to affirm these confessions and to declare that they will not ordain, install or employ in any ministry position any person who will not affirm them.

Urge the Presbyterian Church (USA) General Assembly to instruct the General Assembly Council to require that all program personnel uphold these confessions and ensure that these confessions are followed faithfully in all programs and policies of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

A copy of this resolution shall be forwarded to the Newton Presbytery, the General Assembly Council, and the Presbyterian Lay Committee.
